What can 20 people do with the same beads and findings?
|
Since 2005, the Delaware Valley Bead Society has been finding out with a members-only design competition, the DVBS Bead Challenge. Members may make either a wearable or non-wearable object. DVBS provides a kit and members supply the creativity. Final projects must contain 70% of the items in one kit, and one item may be added. The prizes are beautiful beads or bead assortments.

The 2010 DVBS Bead Challenge Rules
1. You can enter twice, but you must purchase separate kits. You cannot combined materials from 2 kits.
2. Stringing material is counted as an item. You may use the .019 beading wire included in the kit or you may substitute any other stringing material, i.e. Nymo, c-lon or rubber.
3. You may substitute a different clasp for the one included.
4. You must use 70% of the kit materials.
5. In the kit is 12 inches of 20-gauge sterling silver wire. This size sterling wire is counted as one item. You may add more 20 gauge sterling silver wire if you choose with no penalty.
6. Another gauge sterling silver wire may be substituted for the 20-gauge wire in any length. Any other kind of wire (copper, brass, gold, etc.) or different gauge sterling silver wire will count as your added item.
7. The entire container or seed beads counts as one item, although you don't have to use every bead in it. The larger beads in the mixed package* each count as a separate item.
8. The special hardware piece MUST be used. Although it can be altered. For example, drilling additional holes or cutting it in half.
9. You may add one item of your choice in any quantity you want. For example, 200 Blue Swarovski bicones.
